Get Started Today

If you’re ready to dive into the exciting world of robotics with TurtleBot 4 and ROS 2 Jazzy, we have all the resources you need to get started. Check out our documentation below for setup instructions, tutorials, and example projects.

Step 1: Reinstall Create3 Firmware

  • Download the I.0.0 firmware here.
    • Unlike Humble, the Jazzy-compatible firmware does not support switching between FastDDS and CycloneDDS; instead you must select the firmware vision that corresponds to the ROS middleware you intend to use.
    • The default for Jazzy is FastDDS, and is recommended unless you have a specific need to use CycloneDDS.
  • Access the Create 3’s webpage (available on port 8080 on the Raspberry Pi, e.g. http://10.42.0.0:8080 if your Raspberry Pi is in access point mode).
  • Select the Update tab, and upload the .SWU file you downloaded.
  • Wait for the update to complete. The Create 3 will reboot and play a chime when the update is finished.

Step 2: Download SD Card Image

  • Download the correct file from the ROS webpage (turtlebot4_jazzy_standard_2.0.0.zip).
  • Unzip the image. It’s about 9GB after unzipping, so make sure you have enough disk space.
  • Insert your SD card into your computer. You’ll need to know its device identifier (e.g. sda, sdb, mmcblk0).
  • Run the following commands:
wget

bash sd_flash.sh /path/to/downloaded/image.img
