We are excited to announce that ROS 2 Foxy is now available on Jackal UGV. ROS 2 is an open source software development kit that can be used in a variety of robotics applications. It has been redesigned from scratch to meet the new and exciting challenges that have been set forward by the latest robotic systems and to better facilitate the ROS community.
micro-ROS will also be available on Jackal UGV. micro-ROS aims to help bridge the gap between resource-constrained and larger processing units and robotics applications. While ROS applications are compatible with these more complex computing devices, they do not facilitate at the micro-controller level. The micro-ROS framework enables microcontrollers to be seamlessly integrated into ROS 2 based systems, increasing interoperability and development efficiency.
You can download ROS 2 Foxy for Jackal UGV by following our installation guidelines. ROS 2 Foxy can be downloaded regardless of whether or not ROS 1 is already installed, since ROS 2 is now able to coexist with ROS 1 on the same computer. Click here for the tutorial.
