FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Clearpath Robotics Awarded Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program (CICP) Contract for the Kingfisher M200 Remote Survey System.

(Kitchener, Ontario – November 26, 2012) – On November 16, 2012 Clearpath Robotics was awarded a Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program (CICP) contract through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) for the Kingfisher M200 Remote Survey System.  Water Survey Canada will be testing the unmanned surface vessel at facilities across the country and providing invaluable feedback to assist with successful commercialization of the system as an advanced surface water monitoring tool.

“By supporting innovations from emerging businesses, PWGSC is opening doors for technology companies throughout the country,” says Matthew Rendall, CEO of Clearpath Robotics.  “This is a fantastic opportunity to receive input from industry professionals early in the commercialization process and use that insight to release the best possible product to market.”

The Kingfisher M200 is an incredibly customizable platform with applications ranging from hydrology staples such as bathymetric data collection, shore erosion monitoring, sediment mapping and flow rate measurements, to dam inspection and harbour safety.  Able to collect nearly 100 times more data, up to eight times faster than traditional survey methods, the Kingfisher can cut labour and budget requirements by 60% – all while dramatically improving onsite safety.

Clearpath Robotics is a Canadian startup company founded in 2009 by four graduates of the University of Waterloo’s Mechatronics Engineering program.  Dedicated to automating the world’s dullest, dirtiest, and deadliest jobs, Clearpath has found early success, winning the FuEL (Future Entrepreneurial Leaders) Award, TiE Quest’s New Entrepreneur Award, the Shopify Build a Business Award, and taking first place in the 2011 CBET RISE Business Plan Competition.  High profile clients such as the Department of National Defense, Canadian Space Agency, US Navy, MIT and Carnegie Mellon University are proving Clearpath really is “Your Unmanned Expert”.
