We’re unleashing the robots this weekend at (arguably) the ‘Greatest Show and Tell on Earth’! The Maker Faire is coming to Kitchener-Waterloo (Canada’s silicon-valley) on Saturday June 15th from 10am-10pm to showcase invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and celebrate the ‘Makers’ in the world. The event is free to attend and will be held at the Kitchener City Hall. Our robots will be onsite and our team will be available to answer career questions if you have interest in working with us.

Grizzly is out of the cave!

Grizzly RUV

Grizzly RUV

We’re excited to announce that Grizzly Robotic Utility Vehicle(RUV) will be making its first public appearance at the Waterloo Mini Maker Faire this weekend at booth #22. Alongside Grizzly will be our fan favourites: Husky (Unmanned Ground Vehicle), Turtlebot (personal robotics platform) and Kingfisher (Unmanned Surface Vessel). In fact, you may just find Kingfisher taking a swim in the fountain at Kitchener City Hall.

All of our robots are equipped to run autonomously, are compatible with open source software and serve as a platform to easily outfit a variety of payloads, which could include a robotic arm, a camera,GPS and more!

So what’s the Faire all about?

Waterloo Mini Maker Faire

Waterloo Mini Maker Faire

There’s a little bit of everything at the Maker Faire, from tech enthusiasts, such as ourselves, to crafters and homesteaders. The original Maker Faire event was held in San Mateo, CA almost a decade ago. Now Maker Faire events occur around the world in places like New York, Detroit, Kansas City, Newcastle (UK), and Tokyo. Mini Maker Faires, such as the one coming to Kitchener-Waterloo, were established as community-driven, independently organized events to highlight local talent.

We’re excited to participate in the Waterloo Mini Maker Faire because we’re a home-grown Waterloo tech company and love to interact with other tech-minded people. We also are proud showcase our employees since we work with a truly awesome team of people who are experts in their field and love what they do. In their free time, many take to creating their own inventions. In fact, one of our employees will be there with a homemade laser-guitar – you’ll just have to see it for yourself!
